Russell Schafer talks with Dr. Nakul Rathi after SmileCon 2022. While this was the last interview he did of the weekend, he still has two more that will be released in the next few weeks. Nakul owns an implant company and teaches implant placement in Houston, Texas at Get Implant. We talk about his journey from India to New York where he studied under the illustrious Dr. Tarnow and then went to The Ohio State University to study Prosthodontics. We discuss the importance of trying to make implants affordable for all of our patients whether they live in the US or in India.
So we decided to make a mid week episode as Clint had some stuff he wanted to talk about. We share some beers over Riverside.FM and discuss random topics about whatever was on our mind for the past hour. The show
So Russell just got back from SmileCon 2022 in Houston. This is actually his second interview of four that he did there, but this one required much less editting than his first one.
This week Russell talks with the co-founders of PreTeeth AI (Bill Chou and Dr. Sylvie Liu). Preteeth AI is a software that makes a smile analysis and smile simulation software and they offer a one month free trial. Go check out their product at www.PreTeeth.com. It's a pretty cool piece app.
Also Dr. Alex Lin who is an ortho resident at Penn was on the podcast as well. Dr. Lin and Dr. Liu are both dentists who trained in Taiwan and we discuss at length what being a dentist in Taiwan is like compared to dentistry in the United States.
Finally, Bill was kind enough to share a song that his band plays which is the music for the week. To see the live performance, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKsimznyk4w
Russel and Clint talk to Joel David Chappell and his quest to find a dentist to work his wondeful opportunity in Tipton, Missouri, a town he assures us has electricity.
Also, every dentist should have this in front of their office.
This week Clint and Russ interview John Unger from Cincinnati, Ohio. We discuss his recent big move and upgrade for his office and what it is like to be the third owner of a dental office. Clint explains what it is like to do comprehensive dentistry in a meat packing plant and Russell whines about his orange drink of a beer.
This week Russ co-hosts with Rich Rosenblatt and Frank Clayton. Along with regular shenanigans, we discuss crazy patients and training associates. Give a listen to the end to hear Rich's great story that was told before we began the podcast.
This week Russell borrows Justin Moody's podcast set up in Tempe, AZ at The Pathway which is why you won't hear his dog barking in the background. Russell just finished a course by Dr. August de Oliveira on how to do full arch fixed cases digitally. At the end of the course, Russell talks with the team at Implant Pathways and New Horizon about how their experiences in Arizona as well as how they got to their current roles.
If you want to learn more about The Pathway and the courses they offer for both surgical and restorative dentistry, visit www.ThePathway.com.

Clint updates us on the fun of dealing with banks and trying to get loans for a small dental practice.
This week Russell interviews Brian Binnie who works with Pac-Dent in their 3d printed resins division. Russell and Brian discuss the 3d printed resins and Brian gives his opinion on where 3D printing is going in the near future for dentistry.
If you want to contact Brian about his offer to our listeners, his email is brianbinnie.pacdent@gmail.com.
This week Clint and Russ interview Jessica Knott, CDT. Jessica designs and builds 3D printers and helps validate 3D printing resins for dentistry so that we can make sure that the materials are acceptable for human use. Clint talks about his project in Tanazania and how we think 3d printing will be useful for these clinics in underserved areas with the goal to give great dental restorations for dollars a piece.
In the second half of the show, Jessica talks about her experience of training with the Air Force to receive her CDT through the Air Force. We learn about the rigourous and comprehensive training the Air Force gets its dental teams.

Sharel also runs a group called private group called Sistahs in Dentistry and her office is Hermann Park Smiles.
This week Clint and Russell interview Jimmy and Courtney Nelson from Metairie, LA. Jimmy is dentist in Metairie, LA and Courtney runs their office. The four of us talk about the fun of dealing with rude patients as well as the more fun part of kicking their butts to the curb. We especially love it when they beg to come back. As Russell is doing this podcast from his office rather than his home, Courtney and Jimmy's dog takes the place of Lucas and makes a guest appearance. Finally, Courtney gives us "Just the Tip" on how to travel better.
Their office's website is at www.nelsondentalcarela.com and both can be found on FB and IG.
Clint and Russ interview Dr. Danny Domingue this week. Russell's computer went on the fritz which is the reason for the low quailty audio. We apologize in advance! We talk about how tequila is an amazing drink and the benefits of doing amphetamines. Finally we discuss implant stuffs and fawn over the brilliance of Cory Glenn. If you want to see upcoming classes that Danny is offering, go to either Digital Dental Masters or Implants Black and White for course dates. We discuss the fun of running dental practices, training team members, and trying to force children to embrace their artistic side (at least a bit). There is a reasonably high chance that Mona might be drinking given her town's penchant for alcohol while Erin enjoys a lovely sparkling water mid podcast.

We start out with Russell's cat disconnecting the podcast and move towards dentists who can afford Bitcoin but can't afford a Dexis sensor. We talk about Brad's move towards digital and how access to care is just funny. We also finally find out why Lance hates all periodontists.
